I'm so excited to share my latest painting with you – a vibrant and cheerful piece that I've just finished. It's a 14x14 inch Wood Panel filled with the delicate beauty of pink roses nestled in a striking teal vase.
Inspiration and Process:
I've always been drawn to the simple elegance of flowers, and roses, in particular, hold a special place in my heart. Their layered petals and soft, romantic forms are a joy to capture on canvas. This time, I wanted to play with a bold color palette, the classic pink of the roses with the unexpected pop of a teal vase.
The process began with drawing out the composition, focusing on the interplay of shapes and the way the roses interacted with the vase. I wanted to create a sense of fullness and abundance, as if the roses were overflowing with life and energy.
I then moved onto the painting itself, layering the colors to build depth and texture. The soft pinks of the roses were created using a mix of hues, capturing the subtle variations in light and shadow. The teal vase, with its striking contrast, was painted with a mix of blues and greens, aiming for a rich, almost jewel-like quality.
